Edinburgh festival to present Iranian play ‘Voicelessness’

The Edinburgh Int’l Festival in Scotland is to present Iranian play ‘Voicelessness’.

The Edinburgh International Festival in Scotland has been scheduled to present the play ‘Voicelessness’ by Iranian director, writer and performer Azadeh Shahmiri.

‘Voicelessness’ is a delicate story of determination and hope, told through mingled voices, viewpoints and times, powerfully poignant in its simplicity. It is created by exciting new Iranian director, writer and performer Azadeh Shahmiri.

Set in 2070, the play is about a young woman struggles to discover the truth behind the mysterious disappearance of her grandfather, more than 50 years earlier.

But in the dystopian society that the world has become, in which freedom of expression is stifled, who will admit what really happened?

The play will go on stage on August 14 and 15 in Persian language with English supertitles.

The Edinburgh International Festival is an annual festival of performing arts in Edinburgh, Scotland, which takes more than three weeks in August.

By invitation from the Festival Director, the International Festival brings top class performers of music (especially classical music), theatre, opera and dance from around the world to perform. The festival also hosts a series of visual art exhibitions, talks and workshops.

The 2017 edition of the Edinburgh International Festival is slated for August 4-28 in Scottish city.
